I’ve always loved books and reading. I started with Nancy Drew and Little House on the Prairie and I never looked back. Sometimes I get sidetracked by other distractions or life in general, but I always return to books. Reading reviews is fun too in a weird sort of way. It’s kind of like the people that enjoy reading recipes knowing that they will never actually make the dishes. I read a lot of book reviews for books I will never read in their entirety. I hope you enjoy these reviews, whether or not you ever get to sample the complete “dish”! –booklove
Where the Wild Things Are is my first memory of reading; I loved the color and texture of the drawings along with the succinct text that carried Max out of his bedroom and into a land where Wild Things roamed. I have been a frequent visitor of distant lands and wild inhabitants ever since, because I am always amazed at the different ways in which we gather words together to express ourselves. Reading is my voyeuristic way of dipping into other people’s brains and seeing their lives, their thoughts, their dreams; commenting and reviewing books is my way of sharing just a tiny bit back to the authors and other readers of what I have gleaned from a particular book. Happy reading from one Wild Thing to another. –Book Dragon
I have a lifelong love of reading which started before elementary school: memories of getting “lost” in the public library when my Mother thought it was time to leave, reading with a flashlight in bed after my bedtime, etc. I look at reading as going to all those places you probably will never visit, examining lives you would never live yourself, and discovering how ridiculous humans can be in any time period. I have a healthy respect for writers; those who can discuss obscure topics and keep you awake as well as fiction writers who can create entire worlds that leap off the page. I’ll probably review more history and current events than BookLove or Book Dragon, but I do find some interesting fiction on occasion. BookLove reviews are a way to scratch my writing itch and point folks to some great titles –allTheWayFromLongview
